A total bathroom makeover can cost a lot of money but by installing something as simple as a bathroom vanity you'll be amazed at how much more space your bathroom looks to have, and how easy it is to keep it tidy. Bathroom vanities are cabinets which include a sink as well as a countertop and improve the functionality of your bathroom.
Can be floor or wall mounted
According to recent reports it looks that people are spending more time than ever in their bathrooms which is why it makes sense to have a tidy and inviting bathroom. Bathroom vanities come in many different styles and sizes to fit into all sorts of bathrooms. Traditionally vanities sit on the floor and fit flush against the wall, usually with a mirror above them. However, wall mounted vanities are growing in popularity and companies such as Dreamline include some very sleek styles which fit neatly onto the wall, a few inches above the floor, giving the impression of “floating”. They look fantastic in a modern bathroom which is tiled from floor to ceiling.
One or two sinks
If you are lucky enough to have a large bathroom then you might like to consider one of the many double vanities which incorporated “his and her” sinks. These can be very handy if you both have to get up and leave for work around the same time, as one person need not hold the other one up. You'll also have separate cupboard below for storing your own toiletries. Speaking of sinks, there are a wide variety to add that wow factor to your bathroom. If space is a major issue, you might like to consider a slim line vanity with a cupboard and a drawer below it, which is useful for extra storage, and a contemporary porcelain bowl with a tall faucet sitting on top.
Contemporary or traditional
The age of your property may well play a large part in your choice of vanities and bathroom cabinets. If your property is a new build then you might be inclined to choose a vanity made from glass which has a glass bowl sitting on top of it and a stainless steel rail benefit on which to hang a hand towel. These are often designed to be wall mounted and placed na corner. Likewise, if your property is older, you may prefer to choose say a mahogany base with arched door panels and a rectangular vessel sink sunk into the top.
When it comes to cost, this varies heavily depending on the materials used. If you're looking for cheap bathroom vanities then it may be better to buy one that you assemble yourself. White vitreous sinks are cheaper than colored tempered glass sinks, and naturally you can expect to pay even more for a granite sink. It's easy to go over budget in a bathroom but if you shop around and stick firmly to your budget, then you can still achieve a bathroom with a wow factor on even the lowest budget.
